This shrine was built alongside the establishment of Rattanakosin as the capital city. According to Brahmin customs, before building a city, a ceremony to raise the city pillar must be performed at a significant location to bring good fortune to the city to be constructed.

This place is also a major tourist attraction in Bangkok. Tourists and locals often come to pay respects and make wishes, as it is believed that worshipping at the City Pillar Shrine will help promote a stable and progressive career and life foundation, as well as grant wishes, both at the beginning of the year and throughout the year.

🕰️Opening hours: Open for visits from 06:30 to 18:30 (open all night during the New Year's Eve, New Year, and Chinese New Year festivals)
