The Wireless House: A Central City Museum That Takes You Back in Time
In the heart of the bustling Witthayu-Rama 4 area, there is a place quietly tucked away, ready to take us back to a prosperous past. This is "The Wireless House Museum," newly restored as part of the One Bangkok project.
This beautiful colonial-style building was constructed during the reign of King Rama VI. The name "The Wireless House" comes from its location next to Thailand’s first radio telegraph station, the "Saladaeng Radio Station." The building has served many purposes over time before being carefully restored and opened as a museum for new generations to experience history once again.
Ancient collections that tell stories and modernity that never bores
When you step inside the museum, you will be immersed in an atmosphere filled with stories from the past. The building itself is a valuable historical artifact, with its ancient wooden floors still retaining their beauty and traces of time, and interior decorations that preserve a classic luxurious charm. The museum displays old household items, vintage photographs, and rare important documents.
What makes the visit engaging is the perfect blend of old and new technology. Digital media is used to help tell the stories, making it easier to understand the history.
The most interesting spot is the interactive activity zone, where you can truly "play" with history. For example, there is a simulation of an old typewriter, and the highlight you must not miss is the Morse code simulation, where you can try sending codes before hearing the real sounds. This offers a new experience that goes beyond just viewing—it lets you participate, deepening your understanding of the stories.
Overall, The Wireless House is a very well-executed museum, perfect for anyone wanting to escape the chaos and relax in a peaceful atmosphere, experience history in a fun way, and learn the hidden stories in the heart of the city.
