Red Brother Watergate Chicken Rice was established in 1960 and has been operating for over 60 years. There are two locations, about a 2-3 minute walk apart. The main store is said to have simpler decor and no air conditioning, while the branch has a better environment with air conditioning. This time, we ate at the branch. During lunchtime, you need to queue; the staff will give you a number and then you wait outside. We were lucky to be the first group waiting and only waited about five minutes.
We ordered a small Hainanese chicken rice, chicken wings, and tofu pudding. The Hainanese chicken rice is very cheap. After ordering, hot chicken soup is served first, which has a peppery taste. The chicken in the Hainanese chicken rice is very tender, and the rice soaked with chicken juice is super delicious. The fried chicken wings and tofu pudding were also quite tasty.
