A house sunk in a fishbowl, or a society immersed in uncertainty? "A Solo Project": An exhibition invites us to explore demolition and reconstruction by Prachaya Pinthong.
Prachaya Pinthong, a conceptual artist, often challenges viewers to look beyond physical objects and explore their underlying meanings. Using process and real situations as the primary medium for questioning social issues, he uses demolition and reconstruction through his work /|~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~||/| (2025), a glass aquarium-like enclosure constructed from the dismantling of the gallery's door and window panels. Concrete cushions from a parking lot serve as the base of the enclosure. Inside, we find a temporary house-like structure submerged in a glass aquarium perched atop a grassy field. This structure may reflect instability, fragility, and the struggle for survival, but it also opens up new interpretations from the viewer's perspective.
This exhibition celebrates the 10th anniversary of BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY, founded in 2015 by Arkapol Sutas Na Ayudhya and Supamas Phahulo. Over the past decade, the gallery has served not only as a space for art exhibitions, but also as a community of experimentation, creativity, and exchange, encouraging artists to work more freely and daringly. The selection of Pratchaya Phinthong's work for this anniversary represents a rethinking of the gallery's stance and a look ahead.
