Wat Prachasattharam (Stone Pillar), Bang Sue

#BangkokTourism #Worship
- Wat Pracha Sattharam, located at the base of Rama VII Bridge in Bang Sue, was originally called "Wat Sao Hin" because of the ancient stone pillars within the temple grounds. The temple's history is unknown, with no records of when it was built or who built it. However, some estimate that it dates back to the late Ayutthaya period or early Rattanakosin period, over 200 years ago. It is a public temple under the Mahanikaya sect.
- Within the temple grounds is a sacred shrine called the "Phra Chao U Thong Shrine," featuring a statue of Phra Chao U Thong, who once migrated from U Thong to escape cholera and stopped here.
- Phra Chao U Thong, located in the center of the temple's entrance on the left, is said to be sacred and consistently brings good fortune to those who pay homage, making it the temple's most revered landmark.
