Half a day at the Grand Palace - Bangkok

Overall:
The palace itself is very impressive 🏰 and takes about half a day to visit, especially if you include the Hanuman performance 🎭 included with the ticket.

History:
The Grand Palace was established in 1782 as the official residence of the Kings of Siam (now Thailand) 👑 and served that purpose for about 150 years. The main area is around the Temple of the Emerald Buddha 💎, which is the highlight of the complex.

Visit:

Price ticket for foreigners: 500 Bath

It’s a good idea to hire a guide 🗺️, as there is a lot to see and little explanation available on site. You can also visit the Grand Palace Museum, which houses some interesting royal artifacts 🏺.

The Khon Thai Dance included in the ticket depicts the story of Hanuman, as also illustrated on the walls surrounding the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. A shuttle 🚐 is available to reach the theatre, but it only runs three times per day at specific hours.

Tips:
- Be Careful of Scams!!! ⚠️
At the entrance of Gate 2, there were people claiming that there were no more tickets for about an hour and offering city tours for sale. This is not true—it’s a scam, as tickets are indeed available. It’s unacceptable that the palace management does not control this situation. I saw several people fall for it.

- It is a combined ticket, so all teh activity included can be visisted in multiple days

- Bring an umbrella ☂️ to cover you from the sun and remember the water 💧
