Travelogue of Batu Caves

Batu Caves, located not far from Kuala Lumpur.
Having only seen it in photos before, I finally visited it in person, and it turned out to be far more majestic and mysterious than I had imagined. Here's my travel review.

🚇 How to Get There?
You can reach Batu Caves in about 30 minutes by taking the KTM Komuter train from downtown Kuala Lumpur. The entrance is visible as soon as you get off at the 'Batu Caves' station, making it very accessible.

🛕 First Impression – The Giant Murugan Statue
The first thing that catches your eye as you enter is the golden Murugan statue. Standing at an impressive height of 42.7 meters, its sheer size is overwhelming up close. Reflecting sunlight, it looks magnificent and is already a perfect photo spot 📸.

🪜 The Colorful 272 Steps
To reach the Batu Caves, you need to climb 272 colorful steps. The incline is steeper than expected, so it can leave you a bit breathless. However, taking breaks and looking back offers a stunning view of the golden Murugan statue and the surrounding scenery. Be cautious of the monkeys on the stairs 🐒, as they might snatch snacks or drinks from your hands.

🌌 Inside the Cave
After climbing the stairs, you finally reach the cave interior! This naturally formed limestone cave houses a Hindu temple. With its high ceiling and open space, it feels more like a grand temple than a cave. The scent of incense and the sight of people praying create a mystical atmosphere.

🍴 Travel Tips
• Admission: The main cave (Temple Cave) is free, but some other caves (like the Dark Cave) require a fee.
• Dress Code: Since it's a temple, short shorts or skirts need to be covered with a scarf to enter.
• Best Time to Visit: Go early in the morning to avoid the heat and enjoy a quieter experience.

✍️ Final Thoughts
What impressed me most about Batu Caves is that it's not just a tourist attraction but a living Hindu sacred site where religious practices are still actively performed. If you're visiting Kuala Lumpur, I highly recommend stopping by.
