The Temple of Heaven(Tiantan 天坛) in Beijing,is a religious complex built in 1420 and was used by emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest.
There are many structures and buildings in the complex but the most famous one is The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a circular structure with three levels of blue-tiled roofs and intricate decorations.The temple's design is based on feng shui principles, symbolizing the relationship between heaven and earth.
How to get to the Temple of Heaven?
If you visit the Temple of Heaven through the east gate, you take subway line 5 to Tiantan Dongmen Station (East Gate of Temple of Heaven) and then take exit A, close to the East Gate entrance to Temple of Heaven.
Entrance Ticket: An entrance ticket charges RMB 15 (April – November) and RMB 10 (December – March). With the ticket, you can get into the park, see local people do morning exercises and have an outside look at the historical buildings in the park as well.
