The Forbidden City implements a real-name reservation system for ticket purchases. Reservations must be made on the official website of the Palace Museum 7 days in advance. It is recommended to grab tickets in advance during the peak season (4.1-10.31), while it is relatively easy to get tickets during the off-season (11.1-3.31).
Tickets are divided into morning and afternoon sessions. It is recommended to choose the morning session as you have more time for sightseeing.
Ticket price: 60 yuan in peak season, 40 yuan in off-season; the Treasure House and the Watch House each require an additional 10 yuan (highly recommended).
Opening hours:
Peak season: 8:30-17:00 (last admission at 16:10)
Off-season: 8:30-16:30 (last admission at 15:40)
