Skipped the crazy crowds at Badaling and headed to Mutianyu Great Wall (ζ
η°ε³ͺιΏε) instead β arrived around 11am and there was barely any traffic or people! Got my ticket, took the cable car (5 min), and slid down via toboggan (40 min walk up before that) β the whole experience was so smooth and fun!
π Tickets:
You must purchase entrance + cable car tickets together.
π Round-trip cable car: 140 RMB
β¬οΈ Return: Toboggan or cable car β your choice!
β οΈ Toboggan age limit: no kids under ~10 years or seniors 60+, ID is checked!
β
Highly recommended if you want to avoid the Badaling crowds. The views are better, and the experience is far more enjoyable!
π I descended at 2pm β only waited 10 minutes for the cable car. Afternoon visits are a good idea too, especially if you want to shoot sunset views!
π Fun driver fact: Apparently, Mutianyu is super popular among foreigners and independent travelers. Domestic tour groups tend to avoid it due to limited amenities and lesser-known status. But the scenery? Way better than Badaling!
π All in all, an unexpectedly perfect and peaceful day at the Great Wall!
