The "Summer Palace" or Yiheyuan is a magnificent architectural masterpiece set amidst stunning natural surroundings.
It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
The site features man-made mountains, an artificial lake, pagodas, temples, pavilions, bridges, and more—all crafted entirely by human hands.
Getting there: Take Subway Line 4 and get off at Beigongmen Station, Exit D, then walk about 5 minutes to reach the North Gate. Alternatively, get off at Xiyuan Station, Exit C2, and walk about 10 minutes to reach the East Gate.
Opening hours:
- April to October: Main Gate 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM / Palace Gate 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (closes at 8:00 PM)
- November to March: Main Gate 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM / Palace Gate 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (closes at 7:00 PM)
Admission fees:
- General admission: April to October 30 CNY / November to March 20 CNY
