The Forbidden City is located within a 9-meter-high wall, enclosing all four sides in a rectangular shape, 1 km wide and 1.5 km long on the sides, and is surrounded by a moat. Inside the palace is divided into 2 parts: the “Front Palace”, which is the area where the emperor conducts government affairs, and the “Inner Palace”, which is the area of the concubines, consisting of palaces, throne halls, audience halls, and many gardens.
In the past, this palace did not allow outsiders to enter, so it was called the Forbidden Palace. Until the change of government to the republic, it was opened to tourists to visit the beauty and grandeur of this palace in the form of the Palace Museum since 1949.
