Beppu's hot spring pond created by a volcanic eruption 1,200 years ago - Umijigoku 海地獄

#JapanTravel #BeppuTravel

The Umijigoku Sea Hell in Beppu's hot spring area

was named after the large pond that was created by the eruption of Mt. Tsurumi 1,200 years ago
because it looks like the color of the blue ocean.

There is also a small botanical garden inside where you can see aquatic plants,
and it is a tourist attraction where you can see well-maintained gardens and hot spring water with smoke rising.

Location: 559-1 Kannawa, Beppu, Oita 874-0045 Japan
