Liuzhou Surrounding Tours: Cai Family Scholarly Ancient Residences in Gula Town, Binyang County

The Cai Family Scholarly Ancient Residences Scenic Area in Binyang County is located in Cai Village, Gula Town, Nanning City. The ancient residence complex is divided into the "Old House" and the "New House" sections, consisting of the Cai Family Scholarly Ancient Residences, Cai Family Academy, Xiao Jin Tower, and its affiliated attractions, covering an area of 75 acres. The Cai family has a history of 500 years. The oldest existing building was renovated in the ninth year of the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1859). There are a total of 184 rooms of various sizes. The main buildings all have a main hall, second hall, and third hall. The main hall is the tallest, reflecting the supreme status. The halls are connected on the left and right by front corridors, with a courtyard in the middle, forming a "four waters converging to the hall" architectural layout, embodying the folk architectural concept of "wealth gathering from all directions." The carved beams and painted rafters on the roof, as well as the seal script patterns of "Fu, Lu, Shou" on the doors and windows, reflect profound cultural heritage and superb artistry, making it a typical model for studying local Qing Dynasty residential architecture.
