Thai Temple, Bodhgaya, India

Wat Thai Bodhgaya, the first Thai temple in India. This temple is located not far from the Bodhi tree, the place where the great man Siddhattha attained supreme enlightenment and became the Buddha. Therefore, Wat Thai Bodhgaya is considered the main place of residence for Thai Buddhists who have traveled to make a pilgrimage for decades.

Currently, the temple is peaceful and shady with trees and mostly green areas. The outstanding structure is the Thai-style chapel (similar to the chapel of Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram) which enshrines a large golden Buddha image and has very detailed and beautiful paintings.
