Korean Travel - Busan Seomyeon Food - 83 Haechi

When it comes to Seomyeon barbecue, this place is highly recommended by many. During my trip to Busan earlier this year, I passed by this restaurant every day on my way back to the hotel, and it was always packed with long lines. Unfortunately, I was traveling solo last time and couldn’t eat that much, but this time I came with friends to give it a try.

The wait is extremely long, so I suggest reserving a spot online in advance. On the day we visited, it was a Monday evening, and we started waiting at around 6:30 PM. There were over 60 groups ahead of us, and we didn’t get seated until 9:30 PM.

The menu is simple, offering only pork barbecue with five types of meat plus pork skin, along with side dishes and main courses. The prices are very affordable, with the most expensive meat costing only 14,000 KRW per portion. The minimum order is three portions of meat, so even if you’re dining alone, you just need to order three portions.

We decided to try everything, ordering all five types of meat. Since we don’t eat pork skin, we skipped that and added fried rice and soybean paste stew to our order.

The barbecue is cooked by the staff, so you don’t have to do anything yourself, which is a big plus. Also, the staff are in great shape 😆.

☑️ Grilled Pork Belly - 13,000 KRW
Although it has some fat, it’s grilled to a crispy perfection and doesn’t feel greasy at all. Even I, who usually avoid fatty meat, ate several pieces. If you’re worried about the richness, wrap it in lettuce for a refreshing bite!

☑️ Boston Butt - 13,000 KRW
Tender meat with a slight chewiness, grilled to avoid dryness. This was my second favorite of the day.

☑️ Special Pork Belly (Matsusaka Pork) - 14,000 KRW
The texture is crispy and crunchy, a cut that Taiwanese people love.

☑️ Pork Loin - 14,000 KRW
If you prefer lean meat with a chewy texture and dislike greasy flavors, this is the choice for you.

☑️ Skirt Meat - 14,000 KRW
This was my top pick! The meat is incredibly tender, fresh, and not dry at all.

☑️ Stone Fried Rice - 9,000 KRW
A must-order! Although it looks spicy, it’s not at all. If you like regular fried rice, eat it as soon as it’s served. If you love crispy rice, wait a bit for the crust to form—it’s super fragrant and delicious.

☑️ Bean Paste Stew - 4,000 KRW
It’s just soybean paste stew. I don’t quite understand the appeal of it, but the bean flavor is quite strong.

Affordable, delicious, and with staff grilling for you, even someone like me who doesn’t usually eat pork would want to come back (I usually eat beef for barbecue and avoid pork). The downside is the long wait, and those with bigger appetites might need to order a second or third round.
