During fall foliage season, not only in Japan, but also in South Korea, more and more people are flocking to see the leaves!
Busan's Beomeosa Temple is a popular spot for viewing the leaves in autumn. Despite its popularity, it's sparsely visited by tourists, with locals mostly visiting for Buddhist worship and mountain climbing. This offers a quiet opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and experience the temple atmosphere often depicted in Korean dramas.
🚌 Getting There: Take bus number 90 from Busan Central Bus Terminal near Nopo Subway Station. The ride takes about 1.5 hours to the Beomeosa Temple Ticket Booth. After getting off, walk up the stairs next to the bus stop until you see the Beomeosa Temple sign. Follow the sign further up to see the Beomeosa Temple Archway.
🎟️ Admission: Free.
⏳ Duration: 30 minutes to 1 hour. Hiking up the mountain may take 3-4 hours.
Tips: (1) Come back in mid- to late November, as there will be very few people. Although it is the last time for the maple leaves to turn red (it will be hotter in 2025, so it depends on the weather conditions), you won't be able to capture the entire red maple landscape, but the dots of red maple against the blue sky and white clouds are a unique sight. (2) In addition to visiting the temple, there is a path leading up the mountain to the left of the temple. Those with good physical strength can climb to the top and enjoy the scenery. However, there are large rocks along the way, so you need some strength in your thighs to climb up and down. Those with less physical strength can just wander around the temple. (3) There are no food vendors near the temple, so it is best to bring some dry food and water. #BusanItinerary
