[Busan - Baekyangsan] The spectacular Samgwangsa Lantern Festival

Many temples hold festivals around the time of Buddha's birthday, and the most beautiful and famous of them all is the Lotus Lantern Festival at Samgwangsa Temple in Busan.

I happened to be visiting Busan during the festival, so I knew I had to go! So off I went.

I arrived at the temple around 6:30 p.m.
It was still light outside, but the lanterns and decorative dragons overhead were still impressive.

As the sun set, the lanterns and other lights created a gorgeous atmosphere.

Around 7:45 p.m., the sky darkened and we were finally transported to a fantastical world!
The decorative dragons began to blow flames from their mouths.

It was my first time to see such a large-scale temple festival, so it was a very valuable experience.

I took a taxi to get there, but on the way back I took a village bus to Seomyeon.
That's because it was hard to catch a taxi on the way back.

Because just before 8pm when we were leaving, the roads were jammed with people heading to the temple!

If you're going next year, it might be a good idea to go to the temple a little earlier.
