Indonesia's largest mosque, are you sure you don't want to check in?

Jakarta's Grand Mosque (Istiqlal Mosque) Jakarta's Islamic Grand Mosque (Istiqlal Mosque) is one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia, located in Indonesia's capital, Jakarta. The mosque was completed in 1978, and its name "Istiqlal" means "independence" in Arabic, symbolizing the victory of Indonesia's struggle for independence. The mosque's interior is magnificent and can accommodate about 20,000 worshippers. Its architectural style blends modern design with traditional Islamic architectural elements, making it one of the symbols of Islam in Indonesia and an important landmark in Jakarta. The mosque frequently hosts various religious ceremonies and cultural events, attracting many visitors from around the world.

Right across from the mosque is a Catholic church, Gothic style, door to door, very harmonious.

Jakarta Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption, is a Roman Catholic church located in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. Construction began in 1901 and was completed the same year, making it one of the oldest and largest Catholic churches in Indonesia. The architectural style of Jakarta Cathedral combines Neo-Gothic and classical elements, with a bell tower approximately 60 meters tall. The interior is richly decorated, featuring exquisite stained glass windows and murals. Jakarta Cathedral is one of the main gathering places for Catholics in Jakarta and is also a significant tourist attraction in the city.

The cathedral is right opposite the mosque. When I visited, it happened to be Christmas, and there were many people attending mass, with quite a few police officers deployed.

You need to take off your shoes to enter the mosque. You can leave them in any inconspicuous corner, they definitely won't get lost 😋😂. Photography is also allowed, so feel free to take pictures boldly.
