Wat Tham Chang, located in Khao Yai Subdistrict, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province, is a popular tourist destination and spiritual center for devotees of the Naga deity. The highlight is the "Phor Pu Phaya Phetchakhiri Mahamuni Srisutthonakharach" statue, which is the largest Naga statue in Thailand, standing approximately 31 meters tall and stretching over 227 meters in length.
Highlights and Activities:
• Pass through the 9 Naga belly chambers: A popular activity believed to bring blessings and good fortune. Each chamber holds unique significance according to local beliefs.
• Worship with Bai Sri and red cloth offerings: The temple provides Bai Sri sets and red cloth incense offerings starting at 49 baht for use in prayer ceremonies.
• Photography and sightseeing: The vibrant colors and intricate designs of the Naga statue make it perfect for photography and admiring the grandeur of the artwork.
Getting There:
• From Bangkok: Take Phetkasem Road (Highway No. 4) heading towards Phetchaburi Province. Pass through Cha-am District and turn left following the signs to Wat Tham Chang. The temple is just a few kilometers off the main road.
• From Hua Hin: Drive north on Phetkasem Road until you reach Cha-am District. Turn right following the signs to Wat Tham Chang. The temple is near the mountains and surrounded by beautiful yellow flowers along the way.
