Phanom Rung Stone Castle in Buriram Province is an ancient Khmer-style historical site built from pink sandstone. It is situated atop an extinct volcano at an elevation of 1,320 feet. The castle is renowned for its stunning architecture and intricate carvings, boasting a history of over 1,000 years. It served as a Shivaite sanctuary, symbolizing Mount Kailash. A unique phenomenon occurs here where the sunlight passes through all 15 doorways four times a year, creating a profound connection between nature and local culture.
