Okinawa|Reclaimed land to build an American village. It is worth spending a day shopping and treasure hunting to experience the strong American style

After World War II, Okinawa was once ruled by the US military. After the return of Okinawa's autonomy, the land of Mihama in Chatan Town was also returned. Together with the area formed by land reclamation, it formed an area with a strong American style. Since 2004, it has gathered a special town of shopping and dining under the name of "American Village", becoming a tourist attraction in the central region.

The iconic Ferris wheel has been dismantled and a building is being built. At the end of May when the rainy season lasted, there were still many tourists, especially Korean tourists, who shuttled through the small American-style shops, looking for special souvenirs.

Strictly speaking, the entire American Village covers an area of 5 Tokyo Domes and brings together 13 shopping malls. Among them, America Depot and Depot Island are the ones that attract tourists to take photos. The buildings decorated with saturated colors are eye-catching in themselves, plus there are many second-hand American clothing, military products, and popular groceries. If you like treasure hunting, you can definitely spend a whole day here.
If you are hungry, you can find meat sauce hot dogs, tacos, American-style snacks to fill your stomach, and there are steakhouses for dinner.

If you are not driving, you have to spend some time taking the bus. From Naha Bus Terminal, take bus No. 20/120/28 to Kuwae Station. Since the bus stops at the station, it takes about an hour to drive.
