I chose to visit the Dujiangyan Panda Base, one of four panda centers near Chengdu, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. Located about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Chengdu, this center is less crowded than the more central locations, allowing visitors to enjoy a more intimate experience observing the pandas up close. The Dujiangyan Panda Base, also known as the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base, is dedicated to panda conservation, research, and care.
