In Chengdu, Panda Base is where you can take a stroll among vegetation surrounding which is supposed to be suitable habitat for giant pandas. The roads and walkways are well maintained, and the area is large, where at least half a day could be easily spent here visiting different camps where the giant pandas live.
In addition to giant pandas, red pandas can also be seen here. The base has all sorts of plants, a lake with wild ducks and aquatic vegetation, flowers and flower beds, and some wild birds among the bushes. There are food vendors and restaurants beside the lake, and a panda museum near to the south entrance/exit.
Where pandas were seen, there were always crowds of people admiring and photographing the pandas. There were less people at the red panda camps. I went to the Panda base (South entrance) around 10 am, and there were a lot of visitors. Polices and security guards were stationed at places with large crowds, keeping the place safe.
Even though I went late, I saw several giant pandas solitarily sleeping outside, perhaps the autumn weather was agreeable and comfortable for them to sleep outside; Hua Hua, the Internet star, was also seen sleeping outside! Some were seen feeding around afternoon. Some camps were empty, perhaps the pandas were indoor.
In the red panda camps around afternoon, I saw several red pandas actively moving around, one was seen feeding and two were sleeping. On the way out, I visited the panda museum to learn about the giant panda, and it was a nice way to end the visit.
