The most impressive Chinese traditional art works I’ve seen

Honest, I wasn’t exactly a fan for Chinese traditional arts until this exhibition Mr Bashu.

The exhibition series at Chengdu Art Museum feature a series of influential Sichuan artists who helped shape the course of 20th-century Chinese art like Zhou Lunyuan, Wu Yifeng etc and their prominent art works.

The brushwork was remarkably profound, subtle and yet deliberate, which creates impactful visual layers to some seemingly ordinary subject of matter. I bet photo could do any justice to the actual effect as we admire the works right at the venue.

These artists' works resonate because they reflect both technical mastery and an authentic regional spirit—rooted in Sichuan’s culture, yet dialoguing with modern Chinese artistic identity.
