📍Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple in Chiang Mai

Today I had the opportunity to pay homage to Phra Setangkamani or Phra Kaew Khao, an important Buddha image of Chiang Mai at Wat Chiang Man. This is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. I read in the history that it has been around since the city was first established in 1839 when King Mangrai offered Chiang Man Palace as a monastery and named it Wat Chiang Man. He also ordered the construction of the Elephant Surrounded Chedi in the area of ​​his residence. Inside the chapel, there are beautiful golden murals on a red background. The Elephant Surrounded Chedi is located at the back of the chapel. The base of the chedi is decorated with 16 stucco elephants. This temple is very peaceful even though it is in a residential area.
