Wat Chedi Luang (Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan) is located in Chiang Mai city. It is one of the oldest and most important temples in Chiang Mai. It was built during the reign of King Saen Mueang Ma (1913-1945), and the Chedi Luang was over 80 meters high. It was considered an important religious center in the past and was the repository of the Emerald Buddha for a period of time.
The temple is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
*Please dress appropriately to enter the temple.
How to get there
1. From Tha Phae Gate, you can walk about 800 meters. It takes only 10 minutes to walk or take a songthaew for about 20 baht.
2. From Nimmanhaemin Road, take a red songthaew from Nimmanhaemin Road for about 15 minutes. The fare is about 30-50 baht, depending on the distance.
To make a wish, worship the Buddha in the temple and then go to pay respect to the Chedi Luang. Then try your luck with the fortune sticks.
