Wat Umong (Suan Phuttadham), Chiang Mai Province

Wat Umong (Suan Phutthatham) is a peaceful temple in Chiang Mai. An ancient temple with a unique and beautiful identity. 🍃🍃
🌵 The moss covering the brick tunnel is a green carpet with moisture, beautiful and adds peace to the place, which is the highlight of this temple. It is like a strategy to attract people to the temple.
🕯 When you enter the tunnel, you will find silence and darkness. There are lights along the way at intervals. In the first part of the tunnel, there is a Buddha image for us to worship for good luck. Then there will be a walkway connecting to other tunnels at intervals. In some parts, we can still see traces of mural paintings that are over 500 years old.
⏳ Wat Umong is a temple since the reign of King Mangrai the Great. When he established Chiang Mai, he built a temple based on the style of a temple in Sri Lanka and named it "Wat Welukattharam" (11 bamboo clumps). Until the reign of King Ku Na Thammarat, he renovated the temple and built a large and beautiful tunnel with 4 entrances and exits. Each passageway can be walked through completely. On the inside wall of the tunnel, there are holes for lighting lamps at intervals. Convenient for monks to walk and meditate inside. And on the ceiling of the tunnel, there are also oil paintings.
🍂 Currently, Wat Umong has become a meditation center and a famous tourist attraction in Chiang Mai Province. There are both Buddhists who travel to worship and practice meditation, as well as foreign tourists of different religions who want to visit this important historical site in Chiang Mai.
📣 Anyone who visits Chiang Mai, don't forget to learn about history and see the beauty of this corner of Chiang Mai. When you visit Wat Umong, you will find shady and peacefulness in the temple. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
