Just west of Chiang Mai’s Old City lies Wat Suan Dok, a serene sanctuary steeped in history and spiritual charm. Known as the “Flower Garden Temple,” this 14th-century site was once a royal garden and now serves as a peaceful retreat for locals, monks, and travelers seeking tranquility and cultural depth.

📜 History
Founded in 1370 CE by King Kue Na of the Lanna Kingdom, Wat Suan Dok was built to house a sacred relic brought by Sumana Thera, a monk from Sukhothai. Legend says the relic miraculously split in two—one part enshrined here, the other led to the founding of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
The temple also contains the royal cemetery of Chiang Mai’s noble families, with elegant white chedis built by Princess Dara Rasmi in the early 20th century
