🏛️ History & Legends
Dating back to the 7th century, Wat Phra That Doi Kham was built during the reign of Queen Jamadevi of the Hariphunchai Kingdom. Legend tells of a white elephant carrying a sacred relic of the Buddha’s shoulder bone. The elephant roamed freely until it stopped at Doi Kham, trumpeted three times, and passed away—marking the spot for the temple’s construction.
The temple was later expanded in the 15th century under King Muang Kaeo of the Lanna Kingdom. Today, it remains a revered pilgrimage site, especially for those seeking blessings of luck and prosperity.
