Worship the twin chedis of Phra That Doi Suthep

🏘Wat Chomphu was granted permission to establish a temple in 1782. Originally named Wat Mai Phimpha, after King Kawila defeated the Burmese enemy and left the city, he entered the city and invited a highly skilled sorcerer named Kruba Chompoo to accompany him.
🏕However, the monk refused to enter the city and requested to reside and protect the capital at Wat Mai Phimpha, which had previously served as the headquarters of the Burmese general.
🙏🏽People then popularly called it Wat Khruba Chompoo, and eventually it became Wat Chompoo.
Highlights of the temple include:
🏠The Lanna-style viharn houses the principal Buddha image, a stucco image depicting the subduing Mara posture.
🛕The chedi, or Phra That Chedi Thong Jangko, is considered the twin chedi of Phra That Doi Suthep. Legend has it that King Kuena built Phra Borommathat Doi Suthep and commissioned the construction of a chedi alongside the temple, named Wat Mai Phimpha, because his mother, Queen Phimpa Devi, found it difficult to walk on the high mountain. Because it is very old.
🛕 The chedi has a seven-tiered umbrella. The chedi is covered with gold leaf, decorated with embossed patterns of floral scrolls, leaves, and coiled stems. Some panels are carved with patterns depicting the twelve zodiac animals.
