"Four-eared, five-eyed spider" at Wat Phra That Doi Khao Kwai

#VisitChiangRai "Four-Eared, Five-Eyed Spider" at Wat Phra That Doi Khao Kwai

Wat Phra That Doi Khao Kwai Kaew has a local legend and is associated with Buddhism and the city of Chiang Rai. Approximately one thousand years ago, the ruler of Chiang Rai, Phraya Thammakraj, built Wat Phra That Khao Kwai Kaew. He brought a relic of the Buddha's left wrist from a group of monks who came to spread Buddhism in the Lanna region to allow Buddhists in general to pay homage and worship for good fortune. It has undergone numerous renovations during the Chiang Saen period and the reign of King Mengrai the Great. The relic contains the Buddha's left little finger.

Indra, transformed into a "four-eared, five-eyed insect," eats charcoal and excretes gold. If one is experiencing suffering or distress, praying to him will bring relief and happiness and good fortune.

Legends are not created through a search for facts based on real events and times. They are created through belief in fictional times and stories, fostering social coexistence based on tradition and morality, rather than legends.
