#VisitSecondaryCities ミ The temple of Chiang Rai's city, this is Wat Phra Kaew.
It is the starting point, the origin of the legend of the Emerald Buddha.
Which is currently enshrined in Bangkok.
Who would have thought that it actually started here?
Wat Phra Kaew was originally called Wat Pa Ya or Wat Pa Yea.
Because inside the original temple, there were a lot of Yea trees.
Here, there is a spacious and shady area in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. The church is in the Lanna style, deep red, contrasting with the gold color, trees, cool and comfortable. And at the back, there is an old octagonal pagoda. There is a convenient parking lot. In this area, there is Hong Luang Saeng Kaew, a museum that collects many valuable antiques and Buddha images, which Min will tell you about in the next post. In this post, let's talk about Wat Phra Kaew first.
Currently, the Emerald Buddha is no longer here, but it used to be enshrined for 45 years. Currently, a new replica has been built. And the people of Chiang Rai call it the Chiang Rai Jade Buddha. As for the church, which is in the Lanna style, it is beautiful.
There is a city's guardian Buddha called Phra Chao Lan Thong.
If you come to Chiang Rai, I recommend you to stop by to worship Buddha.
Visit Wat Phra Kaew. Just seeing the architecture and Lanna art, northern art, Min thinks it's worth it.
Opening hours: 7:00-18:00 hrs.
