🍇 A Visit to the Former Kamaya Denbei Villa in Inage

#hellohalloween

Located in Inage, Chiba, this beautifully preserved villa was built in 1918 (Taishō 7) by Denbei Kamaya, the visionary behind Tokyo’s famous Kamiya Bar in Asakusa and Japan’s first winery, Ushiku Chateau.

Known as the “King of Japanese Wine,” Kamaya’s passion for winemaking is reflected in every detail of this residence. The design features elegant grape motifs adorning the ceiling, lamps, and banisters — a subtle yet charming nod to his life’s work.

The entrance, the grand staircase, and even the smallest architectural accents are exquisitely crafted, blending Taishō-era Western influence with Japanese refinement. Walking through the villa feels like stepping back in time to an age of quiet sophistication and artistry.
