Natural Wonders Circuit in Coconino County 🌄🏜️
Get ready for a day packed with surreal stone beauty and adventure as you explore Antelope Canyon’s magical slots, snap iconic shots at Horseshoe Bend, and dive into history at Goulding's Museum—all within striking Southwest scenery!
Start with Antelope Canyon (Arizona 86040), open 7:30–17:30. Head out on a guided tour (required for entry!)—book ahead, as spots fill fast, especially for the famous light beams around midday. Walking through the narrow passageways, look for those swirling orange walls and shafts of sunlight for your best 'insta-worthy' angles (hint: shoot upwards!). Next, Upper Antelope Canyon offers a slightly different vibe and epic photos, with bigger crowds; if open all day, opt for early or late tours for softer light and fewer people. Bring water, comfy shoes, and a hat—while it’s cool inside, the waiting areas are exposed.
Before lunch, speed over to Horseshoe Bend (Kings river rd). Trek the easy 1.5-mile round hike to the site (watch out, no shade!), and stand at the overlook for that epic river meander shot—best at sunrise or sunset for dramatic colors.
Drive out to Goulding's Museum (Oljato-Monument Valley, UT), where local history, movie memorabilia, and sweeping desert views await. It's a perfect indoor stop to recharge and learn some cool tidbits about the area’s movie fame!
Finally, for a classic Southwest experience, try Horse - Herradura in Page for a short horseback ride with sweeping canyon vistas—ideal for sunset.
Tip: Carry sunscreen, plenty of water, and a power bank for your phone (photos galore!). Tours often require prompt check-in, and flash floods are a risk—check weather updates.
