The breeze in Dali always carries just the right amount of gentleness. On my third visit to Shuanglang, I finally found a place that makes you willingly slow down—Guyue Tingfeng Cliffside Sea View Villa. Hidden halfway up the mountain in the Haidong Scenic Area, opening the door reveals a panoramic view of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, making even breathing a pleasure.
🌅 Every Window Is a Picture Frame
The hotel is tucked high in the Haidongfang Villa area, and the surprise of the view hits you right in the heart the moment you open the door. In the 180-degree sea view room, the creamy design makes the space exceptionally transparent. The oversized floor-to-ceiling windows are like picture frames embedded in the wall, capturing the silhouette of Cangshan Mountain and the shimmering waves of Erhai Lake.
Waking up in the morning, you can see seagulls skimming over the water from your bed; in the afternoon, curl up on the bay window to bask in the sun and watch the clouds slowly drift across the lake; in the evening, soak in the full sea view bathtub and watch the sunset dye the sky orange and pink, making time feel soft. The closed-door management with card access maximizes privacy, and the high-end hardware and amenities reflect understated care.
☕️ Dali’s Slow Life on the Palate
Breakfast and afternoon tea are hidden gems here. Bai ethnic aunties’ handmade rice noodles carry a faint rice fragrance, honey-coated milk fan Sachima offers sweetness, paired with freshly ground hand-poured coffee—a perfect blend of local flavor and refinement. Afternoon tea is served on the terrace, with small desserts on a three-tier stand adorned with fresh flowers. One bite, and the sweetness mingles with the breeze from Erhai Lake.
The 24-hour open restaurant is always ready with fruits, tea, and desserts. Returning late at night, the butler always brings a warm bowl of sweet soup, warming the stomach and easing the fatigue of travel.
💁 Days Wrapped in Gentle Details
Good service is never about forced flattery but about just the right kind of tacit understanding. From the airport pickup, the butler’s thoughtfulness is in the details: confirming flight times in advance, providing shuttle service upon arrival in Shuanglang; noticing I brought a camera and proactively recommending the rooftop’s popular infinity pool—white piano included—making photos look like you’ve stepped into Santorini 📸; even remembering my preference for room temperature drinks and avoiding cold beverages when delivering water.
The 24-hour butler is always on call, with free airport/station transfers and laundry service, gentle yet strong like the waves of Erhai Lake. One day, I casually mentioned wanting to see the sunrise, and the next morning, the butler sent me the best viewing spot reminder. Such thoughtfulness makes you want to stay a few days longer.
Nearby Activities: Pack Up the Beauty of Dali
A 10-minute walk to Shuanglang Square, rent a bike by the pier to cycle around the lake, and watch the fishing boats’ lights at dusk like stars falling into the water;
A 15-minute drive to Ideal Village, where blue and white buildings replicate Mediterranean romance, perfect for stunning photos;
Visit Jinshuo Island to explore the ancient Bai village or feed seagulls at Little Putuo. The hotel plans the routes in advance, making it easy for even the lazy to enjoy Dali.
On the day of departure, the butler helped carry my suitcase to the car. The breeze from Erhai Lake lifted the curtains, and sunlight fell on the sparkling water. Suddenly, I understood why some say “Dali is the antidote.” Here, time slows down, worries are carried away by the sea breeze, and Guyue Tingfeng is the place that carefully holds onto this beauty.
Next time I come to Dali, I will definitely return here.🌙
