Exploring Enoshima
① Enoshima Iwaya
A sea cave located at the innermost part of the island.
It is said that Kobo Daishi and Nichiren Shonin practiced here in ancient times, and it has been revered as the birthplace of Enoshima faith.
The cave is home to Iwaya No. 1, which is 152 meters deep and said to lead to the ice caves of Mount Fuji.
The cave is also home to Iwaya No. 2, which is 56 meters deep and said to be the site of the Dragon God legend.
The cave is very mysterious. ✨
There's also a rock shaped like a sea turtle, so try to find it!
② Wakaga-fuchi
This sea-eroded land was created by the uplift phenomenon that spreads around the cave.
It lies directly below the cliffs that form a folding screen.
It is known for the beautiful waves crashing on the shore and the sunsets behind Mount Fuji.
It is said that Wakaga-fuchi got its name from the fact that a young girl named Shiragiku once jumped into the water.
3. Dragon Love Bell: This bell was built in honor of the love story of the "Heavenly Maiden and the Five-Headed Dragon" that remains on Enoshima Island. Many young people and couples visit to ring the bell in hopes of sharing in the legend. The view is also spectacular, and on clear days, you can even see Izu Oshima. Why not visit Enoshima and experience the mysteries of nature? #TravelWithPochiKatsu
