✨/ "Passing through this birch forest is like entering the golden world from the textbook!" /
Finally here!! The obsession planted since reading "The Beautiful Greater Khingan Mountains" in elementary school has come true this autumn😭!! The golden hills everywhere, winding rivers, the sound of reindeer stepping on the tundra... it's truly ten times more breathtaking than I imagined🍂!!
📅【Itinerary: 4 days 3 nights classic autumn route】
𝐷𝑎y1: Hailar → Morigele River → Genhe
𝐷𝑎𝑦2: Genhe → Oroqen Reindeer Tribe → Moerdaoga Forest Park → Shiwei
𝐷𝑎𝑦3: Shiwei → Erguna Wetland → Birch Forest Scenic Area → Heishantou
𝐷𝑎𝑦4: Heishantou → Border Defense Highway → Hailar
📍【Must-visit spots】
1️⃣ Oroqen Reindeer Tribe
🦌 Finally touched the reindeer from the textbook!! Moss costs 20 yuan per basket, and they will come over to nuzzle your palm—super healing for photos~ The tribe also has original birch bark tents, instantly transporting you to the world of the Ewenki people.
2️⃣ Moerdaoga Forest Park
🚂 Recommended to take the forest train! The whole trip lasts 1.5 hours crossing 4 stations, with golden larch forests and birch forests flowing like paintings outside the window—every frame looks like a movie scene~
3️⃣ Erguna Wetland
🍁 Asia’s largest wetland! The moment you reach the observation deck, it’s breathtaking!! The river winds like a silk ribbon through the golden forest, even more stunning when shot by drone (remember to register beforehand).
4️⃣ Birch Forest Scenic Area
📖 The language textbook comes to life! Sunshine filters through the golden leaves, with swings and elk sculptures in the forest—every photo looks like a forest-themed masterpiece~ Recommended to wear white or red clothes for amazing contrast!
🍂【Food list】
▪️ Iron pot stew: wild mushrooms and stewed native chicken from the forest, so fresh it’ll blow your mind!
▪️ Roasted lamb chops: freshly roasted lamb chops at the Mongolian yurt in Heishantou, crispy outside and tender inside, dripping with juice
▪️ Blueberry jam: a specialty of the Greater Khingan Mountains, perfect with rye bread!
▪️ Milk tea: salty Mongolian milk tea with fried rice, experience authentic herder breakfast~
👗【Outfit suggestions】
✅ Light-colored sweater + long skirt (apricot, white, oatmeal)
✅ Wool scarf + boots (big temperature difference between morning and night, warmth is key!)
✅ Antler headband / forest-style earrings (perfect for photos with reindeer to boost the vibe~)
💡𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬:
❶ Late September to early October is the best viewing period! Leaves are fully yellow and not yet fallen, go for it!
❷ Renting a car or self-driving offers more freedom; the scenery along the way is even more stunning than the spots (the Border Defense Highway is absolutely beautiful!)
❸ Signal is weak in the forest area, download offline maps in advance❕
❹ Bring a thermos! Autumn is dry, drinking hot water is really comforting~
“The words in the textbook really can’t describe even one ten-thousandth of its beauty.”
This trip is worth crossing mountains and rivers, bringing tears to my eyes.
