| Shuhokaku Kogetsu | Highly recommended ryokan with views of Mt. Fuji. Japan | Shuhokaku Kogetsu | Highly recommended ryokan with views of Mt. Fuji.
This is my second time to Lake Kawaguchi, and I finally booked Shuhokaku Kogetsu. I have been wanting to stay at this ryokan for a long time. If you want to see Mt. Fuji from Lake Kawaguchi and experience a traditional ryokan, this is the place for you! (If you can book it, haha)
Shuhokaku Kogetsu is in a great location with unobstructed views of Mt. Fuji (the views of Mt. Fuji from Fufu, where I stayed before, are not as good as here).
I mainly want to talk about the room. This time, I booked the "Japanese-style room with open-air bath (12 tatami mats) + living room" and was shocked. It is the largest ryokan I have ever stayed in. It has a separate dining room, living room, tatami area, separate bathroom, and a large private terrace. The terrace has a foot bath area and a hot spring area. I feel like this room is a bit of a waste for just the two of us. It is more suitable for a large family. The private bath is spacious with unbeatable views (as shown on the cover). The living room also has a massage chair. After a bath, you can get a massage and then have dinner. It is so enjoyable. Although the facilities and decor are a bit old, they are very clean.
As for the food, dinner is served in the room, and breakfast is a buffet in the lobby. Dinner is hearty and delicious, but breakfast is average. The advantage is that breakfast time is flexible. You can have breakfast after 8 am (I remember that at Bousui, someone came to make your bed at 6 am, and it was painful to have breakfast so early. In contrast, this time is more humane).
There is a music box museum near the ryokan. You can go for a walk. It is very beautiful.
This time, I took my mom to see Mt. Fuji. It was her first time experiencing a ryokan, and she loved it. It is a ryokan that makes you want to come back.
