I enjoyed listening to music boxes and listening to music at the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, located on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Private museums of music boxes and antique dolls, which serve primarily as tourist and entertainment facilities, are scattered throughout Japan's summer resorts. Among these, this collection of automata and music boxes from the 17th to 20th centuries, collected from Switzerland, Germany, and France, is particularly valuable, combining entertainment and academic value with a fairly well-organized content.

Second only to the Horie Music Box Museum in Kobe, this museum offers a certain level of academic quality and quantity in providing insight into the lineage of artisanal craftsmanship that created the automatic instruments that masters such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn entrusted to preserve the music they created for history, and the reproducing pianos that Vladimir Horowitz and others generously cooperated to pass on their virtuoso playing techniques to future generations.

You can also get a sense of the fairytale-like "hobbies" that were popular in aristocratic culture throughout the ages, as well as the relaxed atmosphere these people enjoyed.

Regular concerts featuring an automatic organ, automatic instruments, and opera singing, as well as concerts in the restaurant, are all highlights within the museum.
