Tenjin, Fukuoka. The origin of the place name "Tenjin" is "Suigyou Tenmangu Shrine".

Tenjin is the largest downtown area in Fukuoka and Kyushu.
The name Tenjin in Fukuoka is said to come from Suikyo Tenmangu Shrine, which enshrines Tenjin.
Tenjin is the god of learning, Sugawara no Michizane!
According to the information board at Suikyo Tenmangu Shrine,
"On his way from Kyoto to Dazaifu, Sugawara no Michizane saw his own reflection in the clear waters of the Yosogawa River, and later built a shrine there, calling it Suikyo Tenjin."
There were many carp in the shrine grounds.
I think the shrine is loved by many people because it also holds a summer festival.
It seems that there are plans to move the shrine to the east, along the Naka River, due to the redevelopment of Fukuoka City in the "Tenjin Big Bang."
Suikyo Tenmangu Shrine is surrounded by buildings in Fukuoka Tenjin, and is also a place visited by many students taking exams.
The "ACROSS Fukuoka Suikyo Tenmangu-mae" bus stop on Meiji-dori provides easy access from Hakata Station to Tenjin.
