Fukuoka Tourism in 2023! "Tochoji Temple"

#besttrip2023 #fukuokatourism #tourist spot
While sightseeing in Fukuoka, I visited the tourist spot "Tochoji Temple".
Tochoji Temple is about a one-minute walk from "Gion Station" on the Fukuoka Municipal Subway Airport Line. In 806, Kobo Daishi Kukai completed his training in Tang China and founded the first temple in Japan here. He is said to have prayed for the "Eastward Spread of Esoteric Buddhism". In addition to the main hall, there is a hexagonal hall, a five-story pagoda, and a bell tower, and the Great Buddha Hall is home to the "Fukuoka Great Buddha," one of the largest wooden Buddhas in Japan. The golden Buddha is over 10 meters tall and overwhelming. You can view the "Fukuoka Great Buddha" by paying a 50 yen admission fee. Photography is prohibited, but it was a magnificent wooden Buddha statue.
Furthermore, at the back of the temple grounds, there is the Kuroda family graveyard, where the graves of the second feudal lord, Tadayuki, and others were found. It is definitely worth a visit!
