Important Temple in Fukuoka

This is Gokushomachi, also known as Tochoji Temple, located in the Hakata district of Fukuoka city. The temple features a magnificent large wooden Buddha statue, which is truly stunning. Photography is prohibited inside, but visitors are welcome to explore and admire the interior. There are also illustrations depicting stories about hell, and a pathway that transitions from darkness to light, which is quite well-designed.

As for traditional architecture, the temple boasts a five-story pagoda, a striking red structure that stands out prominently. This pagoda adds charm and serves as a highlight of the temple, attracting visitors and tourists who often come to take photos of this spot.

How to Get There
Take the subway to Gion Station and exit at Exit 1. The temple is located immediately to the right.
