Tenjin Central Park: A Quiet Spot in an Urban Oasis

Tenjin Central Park is located in the center of Fukuoka City, covering an area of about 31,000 square meters. It was formerly the site of the old Fukuoka Prefectural Government. Although it is located in the bustling Tenjin downtown area, it retains large areas of grass and trees, providing a natural space for citizens and travelers to relax and rest. The park was officially opened in 1989. While serving as an urban green space, it also serves as an emergency shelter.

The most eye-catching thing in the park is the wide Shiba Plaza facing ACROS Fukuoka. Whether lying on the grass to bask in the sun, having a picnic, or taking a walk to relax, it can make people temporarily withdraw from the busy pace. Various markets and outdoor activities are held every weekend or holiday, and the lively atmosphere blends with the natural four seasons.

The park also preserves a Taisho-era building-the "Old Fukuoka County Public Hall Guest House", a nationally designated important cultural property, which is a precious historical building that combines Western style with Japanese details. The newly added dining space "HARENO GARDEN EAST & WEST" in 2019 brings more diverse dining options, making the park not only a green space, but also a part of urban life.
