Midsummer Hokkaido: Ogiya, Tomita Farm, Hinode Park and Aoike Pond Trip

Hokkaido in August is the most colorful season on earth. On the fourth day, we came to the picturesque rural village of Biei with great anticipation and stayed in a cozy cabin. The red cabin is particularly eye-catching and cute🥰. Opening the window in the morning, the breeze brought the scent of grass and flowers. In the morning, we walked around and took pictures. We saw a nice cafe selling breakfast. We enjoyed a cup of coffee in this fresh and quiet town☕️

Our first stop was Farm Tomita, one of the most famous lavender fields in Hokkaido. The endless sea of purple flowers sways in the sun. In addition to lavender, the farm also grows colorful flowers, with red, yellow and pink intertwined to form a beautiful patchwork landscape. We walked and took photos while my son excitedly devoured a lavender-flavored soft-serve ice cream. The sun in Hokkaido is still scorching in the summer. My son has been tanned like a black man. I quickly give him ice cream to cool him down.

Then we came to Hinode Park which was not far away. This is one of the most famous lavender spots in Furano. Unlike other lavender farms, this is an open hill park with a wide view overlooking the entire Furano Basin and the mountains in the distance. July to August every year is the best season for flower viewing, but when we came in mid-to-late August, there was no purple lavender 😓. Even so, after we reached the top, we had a 360-degree view of the rural scenery of the entire Furano area. Wow, what a great view! The layers of farmland and the Tokachidake Mountains in the distance seem like a magnificent landscape painting.

In the afternoon, we drove to the Blue Pond, one of the most representative attractions in Biei. When we walked to the edge of the pond, the sight before us was breathtaking - the water was a mysterious blue. The reason why the Blue Pond has such a dreamy color is that the water contains minerals, which refract sunlight to form a unique blue tone. This blue, words and photos can't compare to the feeling and surprise of seeing it with your own eyes👍! Finally, we ate cantaloupe ice cream (too sweet and a bit greasy) and corn 🌽 nearby. The corn in Hokkaido is so delicious. I still miss it when I return to Taiwan!

The tranquility of the cabin, the sea of flowers and fragrance of Farm Tomita, the grandeur of Hinode Park, and the dreamy blue of the Blue Pond left our family with an unforgettable page in the summer of 2024.
