Who would have thought! Fuzhou’s autumn hides a pink dreamland. When the pink muhly grass blooms in Chiqiao Park, the whole city softens✨ Paired with a hidden gem hotel to stay at, this short trip is an instant legend!
Chiqiao Park from September to November is amazing! The 300-square-meter pink muhly grass forms terraced fields, with flower spikes at varying heights like pink clouds floating on the ground. When the wind blows, waves ripple through the grass, and walking along the flower paths feels like stepping into a fairy tale[__LINK_ICON]. The best part is it’s perfect for photos—crouch on the stone steps using the pink muhly as the foreground, or find a right-angle corner to switch your shot, easily capturing the vibe of being in a sea of flowers without crowding the frame.
But you have to hurry! The pink muhly blooms for only 20 days, and if you miss it, you’ll have to wait until next year. It’s best to visit early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight casts a soft glow on the flower spikes. Wearing light-colored clothes will maximize the layering effect in photos. Remember to enjoy the flowers responsibly—the grass roots and stems are very fragile and almost impossible to regenerate after being trampled[__LINK_ICON]. Besides the pink sea, the park also features ancient bluestone wells and wetland boardwalks. When tired, sitting down to enjoy the breeze is super relaxing. The park is free and open all day, offering great value.
The real surprise comes on the way back to the hotel! This time I stayed at the Golunbu Hotel, and its location is unbeatable. It’s super close to the subway station—just a few minutes’ walk with your luggage. Taking the bus and transferring to the subway from the park is very convenient. It’s only a few stops to popular spots like Three Lanes and Seven Alleys and Yantai Mountain. The surrounding area is packed with malls and food streets, so when you’re hungry at night, you can head downstairs to enjoy Fuzhou fish balls and meat swallow, full of local flavor.
The room really hit the spot! The modern minimalist style is super cozy, and the bedding is soft like sinking into clouds. After a day exploring the flower sea, lying down here means instant sleep. High-speed Wi-Fi and smart TVs with casting capabilities are fully equipped, and some room types even have scenic windows to enjoy the city night view. The most thoughtful part is the 24-hour front desk, which not only handles check-in quickly but also proactively offers travel routes and food recommendations. They even think of small details like mosquito repellent patches and free ice cream. For self-driving guests, the hotel has free parking, saving a lot on expenses.
The next morning, after a leisurely pack-up, I took advantage of the hotel’s convenient transportation to visit other attractions without rushing. This trip was truly comfortable, combining nature’s pink romance with cozy accommodation that heals travel fatigue.
Fuzhou’s autumn shouldn’t be just about the scent of osmanthus. This combo of pink muhly grass sea + hidden gem hotel should be on your travel list! The bloom won’t wait, so go early to enjoy this autumn-exclusive beauty~
