Such a big attraction and it’s actually free, really beautiful and fun to explore

Discovered a magical spot in Ganzi County—the King Gesar City requires no admission fee at all!!

I thought free attractions would be small and unimpressive, but I was shocked as soon as I entered! The entire city is huge! The Tibetan-style watchtowers are layered one on top of another, the red walls and golden roofs shine dazzlingly under the sun, every stone and mural carries the epic feel of King Gesar. Walking on the stone paths feels like stepping into a Tibetan legend.

Strolling slowly along the prayer wheel path, prayer flags fluttering in the wind with a rustling sound, the majestic statue of the city on the distant mountaintop, carved pillars below, and a sky so blue it looks unreal above. Sitting on any stone step, the sunlight warms you, and even the breeze carries the scent of butter tea.

So much to explore! Not only can you admire the architecture, but there are also local stalls selling Tibetan-style trinkets and handmade yogurt. A bowl costs 5 yuan, sour enough to make your eyes squint but the more you drink, the more addictive it gets. Climbing to a high spot to overlook the entire city, the red and yellow houses look like gems scattered on the grassland. Every photo you take with your phone is wallpaper-worthy, no filter needed!

Spent the whole afternoon wandering from the perfect sunlight to the sunset dyeing the watchtowers red, my feet were sore but I still hadn’t finished exploring—the best part is it’s all free!! The value for money here is honestly tear-inducing, feels like I got a huge bargain haha

📸 Photo tips:
① Find a high spot to capture the panoramic view of the city, red roofs with distant mountains, stunning
② Be sure to shoot the prayer flag wall at the corner, capturing the flags fluttering in the wind creates a great atmosphere
③ Wear light-colored clothes! The contrast with Tibetan architecture makes photos pop

Ganzi County really nailed it this time, free and so impressive. Definitely coming back next time I visit Ganzi!
