In Buyuan Village, Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing City, there is a very niche diaolou. Perhaps due to inconvenient transportation or limited support, this diaolou is rarely known to tourists.
This diaolou, built in the early Republic of China period, has 6 floors, is 32 meters tall, and is made of reinforced concrete. It is still one of the tallest buildings in the village today, standing quietly like a guardian for a hundred years.
The day I went, I originally just wanted to take some photos of the exterior. Unexpectedly, the door of the diaolou was open to the public.
I spiraled up the narrow stairs from a hundred years ago, and when I reached the rooftop, I happened to catch a brilliant sunset.
The sun was slowly setting in the west, and the entire sky was dyed into a painting woven with orange and warm red.
A few wisps of cooking smoke rose leisurely from distant houses, unhurriedly highlighting the tranquility of the whole village in a very vivid way.
The most beautiful sunset is always brief. In just about ten minutes, the sky quietly changed colors, gradually transitioning from passionate warm yellow to gentle pink and purple.
At that moment, it felt as if the whole world quieted down, quietly enjoying this healing moment.
