Farquhar Street is one of the oldest streets in George Town, Penang. It was built in 1804 and is famous for the colonial buildings built during the British rule on both sides of the road. The Church of the Assumption, located at No. 3 Farquhar Street, is also called "Holy Mother Assumption" in Chinese. It was built in 1786 and is the third oldest Catholic church in Malaysia. The all-white church is full of exotic style, and the two symmetrical bell towers are like the design of Notre Dame de Paris.
