Penang Street Art!

Penang is famous for its vibrant street art scene, particularly in George Town, where murals and interactive installations bring the city’s walls to life. The street art movement began in 2012 with Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic’s commissioned works, such as Kids on a Bicycle and Boy on a Motorbike, which blend creativity with urban heritage. Since then, local and international artists have contributed murals depicting Penang’s culture, daily life, and history. In addition to paintings, welded iron caricatures narrate local stories. This open-air gallery has transformed Penang into a dynamic art destination, drawing visitors worldwide to explore its colorful streets.
